Goals & Events
Set athletic goals, track race events, and anchor your training plans in Coach Watts.
Goals give your training direction. Coach Watts uses goals to generate training plans, prioritize AI recommendations, and measure progress.
Goal types
Create goals at Profile → Goals:
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Body composition | Reach 72 kg by March, reduce body fat to 12% |
| Event preparation | Complete a century ride in June, marathon sub-3:30 |
| Performance | Increase FTP to 280W, improve 10K pace to 4:30/km |
| Consistency | Train 5 days per week for 8 weeks |
Each goal includes a title, target value, optional deadline, and priority level.
Creating a goal
- Go to Profile → Goals
- Click Add Goal
- Select the goal type
- Enter target metrics and dates
- Save — the AI incorporates the goal into coaching context
The AI may also suggest goals based on your training history and recent performance trends.
Events
The Events page tracks races and key dates:
- Event name, date, and priority (A, B, or C race)
- Distance, elevation, and terrain profile
- Link to an active training plan
Events anchor plan generation — the AI structures mesocycles to peak at your A-race date.
Adding an event
- Open Events from the sidebar
- Click Add Event
- Enter race details and priority
- Optionally link to a training plan
Events can also sync from Intervals.icu or Strava if your calendar is connected.
Goal-driven training
When you create a plan through the Plan Wizard, you select a goal that drives:
- Block length and focus (base, build, peak, taper)
- Weekly volume progression
- Intensity distribution strategy
- Taper timing before event date
Tracking progress
Goal cards show:
- Current vs. target values
- Progress bar (for measurable metrics like weight)
- Status (active, completed, archived)
- Priority badge
Ask Chat about progress:
- "How am I tracking toward my FTP goal?"
- "How many weeks until my A-race?"
