Account & Profile Setup

Configure your athlete profile, sport settings, training availability, and nutrition preferences in Coach Watts.

Your Profile settings tell Coach Watts who you are as an athlete. Accurate profile data improves zone calculations, fueling targets, and AI plan generation. This page is an overview; use the Settings guides for complete field-level and workflow documentation.

Open Profile → Settings from the sidebar.

Basic settings

Configure your identity and display preferences:

  • Name — shown on shared workouts and coach views
  • Timezone — affects how dates and daily metrics are grouped
  • Units — metric (kg, km) or imperial (lb, miles)
  • Date of birth & sex — used in BMR and metabolic calculations

Sport settings

Add one or more sport profiles (Cycling, Running, Triathlon, etc.). Each profile stores:

  • Threshold values — FTP (cycling), threshold pace (running), LTHR
  • Zone definitions — power, heart rate, or pace zones
  • Activity type mapping — which synced activities use this profile

Avoid overlapping sport profiles that match the same activity types. Overlaps can cause unexpected zone choices during workout generation.

Auto-detect thresholds

Use Auto-detect to estimate FTP or threshold pace from your recent workout history. Review the suggested values before saving — they are starting points, not gospel.

Measurements

Track body metrics used across nutrition and performance analysis:

  • Weight — updates fueling calculations (g/kg carb targets)
  • Body composition — optional, synced from Withings or entered manually
  • VO2 Max — if available from your devices

Weight changes propagate to nutrition targets on the next calculation.

Training availability

Define when you can train. The AI uses this when generating plans:

  • Days of the week you are available
  • Time slots per day (morning, lunch, evening)
  • Maximum sessions per day

Accurate availability prevents the coach from scheduling workouts when you cannot complete them.

Nutrition settings

Fine-tune how fueling targets are calculated:

  • Fueling sensitivity — scale carb targets up or down (0.5×–1.5×)
  • Training phase preset — Base, Build, or Race metabolic emphasis
  • Goal profile — lose, maintain, or gain weight
  • Fuel state triggers — customize intensity thresholds for Eco, Steady, and Performance states

See Nutrition & Fueling Logic for how these settings affect your daily targets.

Public presence

Control what others see on your public athlete profile:

  • Profile visibility and slug
  • Shared stats and achievements
  • Social links

Communication preferences

Manage email notifications:

  • Training guidance emails
  • Weekly report delivery
  • Product updates

AI Coach settings

Separate from Profile, go to Settings → AI Coach to configure:

  • Coach personality and communication style
  • Language preferences
  • Feature toggles for automated recommendations

Goals

Set athletic goals at Profile → Goals (sidebar). Goals anchor training plan generation:

  • Body composition — target weight or body fat
  • Event preparation — race date, distance, terrain
  • Performance — FTP target, pace improvement
  • Consistency — training frequency targets

See Goals & Events for details.
